The C&SFT becomes a GE Road

Recently I purchased an extra switcher for the C&SFT - a GE 70 Ton switcher. The C&SFT now has 2 of it's own switchers, as well as the SW1500 it leases from BN / Frisco. The loco is a Bachmann DCC OnBoard loco. It runs well at low speed, and it quite responsive to the throttle.

It seem that the Bachmann DCC OnBoard locos I have purchased recently are more responsive at lower speeds than the ones I purchased when I started out in DCC. It don't know whether it is because the locos are small, and therefore lower geared, or whether Bachmann's DCC OnBoard locos have been improved. Maybe it s a bit of both. Anyway, I am very impressed with the Bachmann DCC OnBoard locos I have purchased over the years, particularly the GE44 and GE 70 Tonners I have purchased recently.

The little GE44 the I purchased a few months ago will haul about 5 cars which is probably quite prototypical, the GE 70 Ton switcher will haul about 8 cars on level track.

I am thinking that I would like to buy one more small GE switcher. Maybe another GE 70 Tonner or a GE 44 Tonner. Then that will mean the C&SFT can end the lease of the BN / Frisco SW1500 at it can be used to run a transfer between somewhere on the BN system and the C&SFT.
